Biggest deployment of the year for the Red Cross, at Dour Festival 2015

The Red Cross will deploy en masse for Dour Festival 2015. Around 130 fist aiders will be available every day, 24 hours a day, from the 15th to the 20th of July. The Red Cross has planned for more than 4,000 incidents. The Red Cross will put in place one of its biggest set ups for the 27th Dour Festival, which starts on Wednesday.

Three ambulances, a Smur car and a 4X4 for field incidents will be permanently on site. The first aiders will be based at three places on the Dour Festival site: one medical post has been set up on the campsite, another on the festival site near the main stage, and an emergency medical post has been set up in a near-by communal school for more serious cases.

Red Cross first aiders have been present at Dour Festival every year since 1989. It dealt with 4,100 incidents during Dour 2014.

The little “first aid” village, where the first aiders will live for six days, will start work on Wednesday. There are dormitories, a mess hall, a mobile kitchen, and rudimentary showers. The “Red Cross” restaurant will serve nearly 2,000 meals morning, midday, evening and night every day, for 4 days. They will prepare 900 kilos of food for the first aiders, as well as firemen and medical staff.
