Dour 2015 – Record year with 228,000 Festival-goers and 270 groups and artists

Dour Festival 2015 broke all its previous attendance records, the organisers said on Sunday. Around 228,000 Festival-goers attended the event. Dour 2015 lasted five days, starting on Wednesday the 15th of July.
2016’s Dour Festival will also last 5 days. The final performances of Dour Festival 2015 took place on Sunday evening. The organisers had already drawn up the final figures, which showed there were over 228,000 Festival-goers. “It’s definitely a record”, says Alex Stevens, one of the organisers. “There were already 35,000 people on Wednesday evening for Mons 2015, 48,000 on Thursday, 47,000 on Friday, 48,000 on Saturday, and 47,000 on Sunday”.

There were also a record number of groups and artists, who performed on 8 stages. “We had 270 artists and groups, which is a first. Around 40 ‘unknown’ artists performed on the new “Labo” stage. Setting up this year’s Dour Festival was a bit of a challenge: 5 stages changed position, and a covered traditional stage was moved outside. The campsite also had a record year with 35,000 campers, which made it the biggest campsite in Europe. Everything went well. The Dour Festival site now covers 100 hectares”.

The dates for Dour Festival 2016 have already been announced: it will keep its fifth day and start on Wednesday the 13th of July 2016. The campsite will be open and the first concerts will take place that day, but it not known what the program will be. It will end on Sunday the 19th of July 2016.
