Platform designed in Belgium to monitor drones routes

A subsidiary of VITO (Flemish Research Institute) and the Belgian company Flight Plus have designed a platform aiming to manage drone flights safely. It should allow air traffic controllers to monitor all commercial drone flights. The platform will make it possible to safely accommodate commercial drones in the airspace. All users will need to register and will then be able to see where they are allowed to fly and what the rules are in different areas. “The platform will allow drone businesses to use the controlled airspace,” explain VITO representatives. “These drone companies can also register automatically and send all the necessary administrative data to relevant authorities. It is a simple tool which will save time and money.”

A pilot version of the system will be tested in Belgium with the aim of then rolling the software out across Europe.
