Antwerp police: their new guns fire paintball pellets

Local Antwerp police will be the first force in the country to use guns that can fire paintball pellets or pepper spray missiles. These new guns are designed to neutralise suspects with no risk of killing them, the Mediahuis papers said on Monday. The 4 FN 303s ordered by the local Antwerp police will be used by rapid response units. These highly trained units use unmarked cars, and were formed after the attacks on Charlie Hebdo in Paris at the beginning of the year.

These semi-automatic guns, unique to Belgium, fire plastic missiles containing paint or pepper spray. The Antwerp police will be the first to use this sort of weapon.
