Less than 1% of French people in Belgium are here to pay less tax

Only one thousand French people have moved to Belgium to avoid paying more tax. That’s less than 1% of French expats in Belgium, according to figures from the French consulate in Brussels. These figures were relayed by La Libre Belgique on Wednesday. There are 121,146 French people registered with the consulate today, a record high and a 50% increase compared to 2007. The consulate says there may actually be twice that many French people in Belgium. It estimates there are between 230,000 and 250,000 French people living in Belgium.
