Five men were arrested on Saturday afternoon, after holding up a flag “that was identical to or looked like” the Islamic State flag. The incident happened near Manneken Pis, the Brussels Prosecutor’s office said in a press release on Saturday evening. The men said they were actors and “it was just entertainment, with no link to terrorism”.
The images show no threatening or provoking language was used. The artists just wanted to say that the population shouldn’t feel threatened by terrorism, the Prosecutor’s office said.
The five men have no criminal record, and still live in Belgium. They were released after being questioned. The images and props were all seized.
