Two Belgian activists arrested during a protest at an arms fair in London

Dozens of activists, including two Belgians, were arrested in London on Saturday, during a protest at the world’s biggest arms fair. This was announced by Katelijne Noens, from the association Vredesactie.

Around a hundred people blocked access to the “Defence and Security Exhibition International (DSEI)”, to delay its set up. The fair will be open from the 15th to the 18th of September. Four Belgians took part in the protest.

Police intervened to clear the entrance. Around a dozen people were arrested, including two Belgians. Several activists chained themselves to each another to hamper the police’s intervention.

Vredesactie says the fair, which takes place every two years, attracts an average of 30,000 visitors. These include representatives from totalitarian regimes, war-torn countries and developing countries.

Other protests are planned for next week.
