Since 2010, the Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (FIPU) has intercepted 35.15 million euros linked to terrorist financing. In 2014 alone, 9.2 million euros were seized, according to the Sudpressenewspaper group on Friday.
Last year alone, FIPU thus opened 36 files linked to terrorist financing.“The increase continues in 2015. It is highly linked to the young Belgian jihadists leaving for Syria,” explains Kris Meskens of the CTIF.
