A lifeless body was spotted in the Ath-Blaton canal in Beloeil (West Hainaut) around noon on Monday. The victim was yet to be dragged out of the water at 2:00pm.
Emergency services in Basècles were told on Monday shortly after noon that a body had been seen in the Ath-Blaton canal, near lock number 11 near Beloeil’s Rue Docteur Ronflette. The local fire department sent a first intervention team at around 1.30pm, followed by 3 divers from the Tournai station.
The victim’s body had been spotted but not recovered by approximately 2:00pm. The identity and cause of death have yet to be determined.
