Student arrested following false bomb alert in Antwerp school

An 18-year-old was taken in for questioning in Antwerp on Monday evening, accused of staging a false bomb alert at Sint-Lodewijk secondary business school on Monday, revealed the prosecutor’s office in Antwerp on Tuesday. The suspect is a student at the school and admitted being responsible for the false alert. He faces up to two years in prison and may be asked to pay for costs associated with security resulting from his action.

The school was evacuated on Monday morning following an anonymous call to the police alerting them to the presence of one or several bombs which, according to the student, were to detonate around noon that day.
