Ryanair registers 17% hike in number of passengers in Belgium

Ryanair has registered a hike of 17% in the number of passengers flown in Belgium in 2015, points out the Irish airline in a press release on Wednesday. The number of passengers at Charleroi airport grew by 5.5 million (10%) compared to 2014. Zaventem airport registered a rise of 1.8 million passengers (44% increase).

A total of 7.3 million clients were recorded by the low-cost company in Brussels and Charleroi in 2015. The airline originally planned to fly 8 million people in Belgium over the whole year, a 30% increase, as announced by CEO Michael O'Leary at a press conference in the Belgian capital in July.

Ryanair passengers now amount for 25% of total air traffic at both airports, reveals the company. Some 90 destinations are offered to and from Brussels and Charleroi. Ryanair plans to continue growing in Belgium, both in numbers of passengers and of jobs.
