Graffiti tags attacking Emir Kir appear in North Saint-Josse

Several graffiti tags attacking the mayor of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Emir Kir, appeared in the Northern quarter of the commune on Saturday morning. This was reported by RTBF, and confirmed by the mayor’s cabinet.

Among the different tags is the message “Kir will reap what he sows”, written on a wall in Linné. Those behind this campaign have not yet been identified. It comes three days after the State Council suspended the regulation concerning policing prostitution in the area.

At the end of 2013, shortly after unregistered people were evacuated from the Gesu church, Emir Kir was the subject of similar tags in Saint-Gilles. He was called ‘Nazi’, among other things.

The mayor’s cabinet has criticised the tags, which it says spoil public space. They undermine efforts to improve the commune. A civil servant will go to the area to deal with those responsible. This type of offense carries an administrative sanction.
