Formal identification of the second perpetrator of Tuesday’s attack, in the church of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray close to Rouen, is still in progress today (Wednesday) but “one scent is particularly favoured” by the investigators. The AFP has learned this from sources close to the investigation. An identity card with the name Abdel Malik P. was found during a search carried on Tuesday, at the family home of Adel Kermiche.
Kermiche was the first killer to be formally identified, and “several elements in the case lead us to believe that he is the second attacker,” stated one such source.
Abdel Malik P. is a young man, aged 19, originally from Savoy. He had no previous convictions, the source stated.
Having no criminal form, the judicial system did not have to hand “his fingerprints, or his DNA on file. This is delaying formal identification,” added another source.
