Sales boost card payments in July
Business booms in the summer sales.

The electronic payments company Worldline witnessed a surge of 23% in card payments during the summer sales (July 1st to July 29th). The operator has indicated as much in a communiqué today (Friday). Up to the eve of the last weekend of the sales, Worldline recorded 147,109,559 million transactions (an increase of +23% compared to same period last year).

Saturday July 2nd, 2016 was a flagship day for electronic payments with 7,268,713 transactions and certain peaks of nearly 13,000 transactions par minute. “Part of this marked upswing might be explained by payment for small amounts, which are most frequently paid by electronic means. The average total per transaction was therefore slightly lower than last year. Belgians spent an average of €46.50 per paymentthis year, compared to €48 in 2015,” Worldline emphasized.
