Already 6,000 reports of social fraud
The newly-established social fraud point of contact is definitely a justifiable expense.

Nearly 6,000 reports have been completed through the social fraud contact point, which has been in existence for less than a year. This is reported in the daily newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen today (Monday). The main reports concern moonlighting and fraud in the home.

The Secretary of State for the Fight against Social Fraud, Philippe De Backer (of the Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats) speaks of the project’s resounding success.

He says that more and more individuals have had enough of all types social fraud.

He states, “We are undergoing a period of cost savings. People are willing to contribute to the economy, but will not tolerate other people who do not play ball.”

Since October 2015, when it was created, the point of contact has had 5,990 reports. Of these two-thirds turned out to be well founded and were therefore subject to an in-depth investigation.

At present, the Secretary of State would like all of the municipal administrations and the various branches of the Public Centre for Social Welfare to also be able to use the point of contact.
