Explosion at National Institute for Forensics and Criminology at Neder-Over-Heembeek
Monday, 29 August 2016
Brussels firemen were called out around 3 a.m. in the morning to an explosion followed by a fire at the site of National Institute for Forensics and Criminology (NIFC). This is located at Neder-Over-Heembeek.
This was indicated today (Monday) by organisation’s spokesman, Pierre Meys. This confirms information disseminated by several media outlets. Nobody was injured.
The spokesman gave no indication as to the causes of the explosion. Various media have said that it was a bomb attack which also involved ram-raiding. A car entered the site a little after 2 p.m., after having forced entry through several barriers.
The NIFC is a scientific institution falling under the auspices of the FPS Justice.
