Inflation declined to 2.16% in August

Having increased in July, inflation dipped in August passing from 2.28% to 2.16%, per figures published by the FPS Economy today (Tuesday). The Consumer Prices Index was at 103.26 points in August, reducing by 0.05 of a point.

The Health Index increased by 0.04 points to reach 103.97 points. Inflation calculated on the basis of the Health Index, went from 2.53% to 2.32%.

Moreover, the threshold for the public sector and benefits, fixed at 103.04 points, was not exceeded in August. That last happened in May.

Holiday villages and road taxes recorded the highest price increases. These increases were mainly compensated for by the decrease in fuel prices and dairy products, the FPS Economy explained.
