Agoria, the federation for the technology industry, considers that some 4,000 to 5,000 jobs are currently in the firing line within Wallonia industry. L’Echo is reporting today (Wednesday) that around 50 Walloon businesses have vulnerabilities similar to those seen with Caterpillar.

Agoria says that Caterpillar’s problem stems from the business simply being an assembly line, whilst lacking in R&D and commercial strategies.

For the group’s management, it was consequently a question of an “adjustment variable” that was easily removed.

According to the federation’s estimates, there are nearly 5,000 jobs within businesses with similar characteristics.

Nevertheless, Agoria stresses that 600 new businesses have surfaced in Wallonia over the last 20 years.

Thierry Castagne, in charge of Agoria Wallonia, states, “As for the generation of added value, this has increased by 20% over the last 20 years.”
