Jan Vertonghen celebrated his 86th selection for the Devils with a solid victory against Bosnia (4 – 0). “We showed our supporters, ourselves and our staff that we were on task”, the defender told VRT.
Vertonghen started the match paired with Toby Alderweireld. After Jordan Lukaku was subbed for Laurent Ciman, the two Tottenham backs took the side positions for a three-way defence. “We practised this system for a week. It worked for attack and defence. Thanks to this, we were able to put more pressure on them. Apparently, this system suits us”.
