Belgium’s Special Tax Inspectorate (ISI) has recovered 21,078,501.60 euros thanks to investigations into tax structures set up by football players and clubs between January 1 and June 5 this year, the Sudpresse media group reported on Friday, based on a response by Finance Minister Johan Van Overtveldt to parliamentarian Peter Dedecker. The money was owed by clubs, players, coaches, agents and even active sponsors in the Belgian football world. It may have been related to schemes aimed at reducing taxable incomes or to undeclared payments, retransmission rights or image rights.
