F-16s in Syria – Belgian Ambassador in Moscow summoned to see Russian “evidence”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has summoned the Belgian Ambassador to Moscow, Alex van Meeuwen, to view “material evidence” of involvement by Belgian F-16s in bombarding the Aleppo area in Syria, Sputnik news agency, which is close to the Russian government, announced on Friday. Belgium denies any involvement in Tuesday’s attack, which killed many civilians. Defence Minister Steven Vandeput said on Thursday that the aircraft identification numbers transmitted by the Russian authorities did not correspond to F-16s from the Belgian army. According to Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, the accusations are aimed at weakening the anti-ISIS coalition, of which Belgium is a part. (Source: Belgae)
