The inquiry into the Wetteren railway disaster is finished

The inquiry into the Wetteren railway disaster is finished, three and a half years after it happened. This was confirmed by governor Jan Biers when he appeared on VRT on Saturday. It was also confirmed by the Eastern Flanders Prosecutor’s office.

On the 4th May 2013, 7 carriages derailed, and this caused a toxic product to leak. One person died and 200 others had to be treated. Nearly 2,000 people had to be evacuated.
