A Flemish grant to help get unemployed people into long-term employment

On Friday, the Flemish government approved a grant to help get unemployed people into long-term employment. It will be 1,250 euros after three months of work and 3,000 after a year. It will be available for 25 to 54 year olds who have been unemployed for more than 2 years.

The Employment Minister Philippe Muyters will put in place a measure mentioned in the Flemish Minister-President’s September Declaration. The grant will complement what has already been put in place to help the “target-groups” get access to or find a job (young people, those aged over 55 and disabled people).

The grant won’t be available to people under 25 or over 55 who don’t already have federal help through the ONSS, the Flemish Minister says.
