More than 40% of INAMI numbers granted to foreign doctors in 2015
There is clearly an influx of foreign doctors in Belgium at present.

Some 41% of INAMI (Federal Institute for Health and Disability Insurance) numbers, granted in the French community were attributed to foreign doctors in 2015. This is indicated in a report of the FPS Public Health obtained by the federal deputy Catherin Fonck (cdH). Le Soir reported this on yesterday (Wednesday).

Unlike Belgian medical students, who are subject to quotas, there is no limit upon foreign practitioners coming in.

These GPs and indeed specialists came from the European Union and more particularly Italy, France, the Netherlands and Spain.

Ms Fonck is denouncing “reverse discrimination” and demanding that there be tests in both language and professional competence to guarantee quality care.

The federal Minister for Health, Maggie De Block (of theOpen Vld) is looking into the possibility of implementing a language examination.
