Operation of the Montgomery Tunnel, which has been closed since February 24th, owing to repair and renovation works, restarted traffic morning (Tuesday). This was indicated by Camille Thiry, the spokeswoman for Brussels-Transport. Some 60,000 vehicles use this tunnel every day going in both directions.

Camille Thiry explained, “It reopened from 5 a.m.this morning. The signs were removed during the night and final checks took place yesterday.”

In total, the work has cost the Brussels region 4 million euros.

She stated that half of the total costs went towards civil engineering and the other to electro-mechanical engineering.

In the first half of 2017, renovation works will be undertaken upon the Porte de Hal Tunnel. Repair of the various roofs of the tunnels of the Reyers Complex is also intended during the coming year.

The second part of the works waterproofing the Rogier Tunnel was announced for the summer.

In 2018, works are intended upon the Léopold II tunnel, financed by a public-private partnership.
