Man arrested for involvement in terrorist group activities

The man, Farid K., was arrested and charged was yesterday (Wednesday) in Laeken, as part of an investigation relating to the Paris attacks committed in November 2015. The charges are involvement in terrorist activities, forgery and making use of forged documents with intent to defraud.

Meryem E. B., the woman arrested at the same time as him, was also charged with forgery and making use of forged documents with intent to defraud.

She was released provided that she respected the conditions imposed, the Federal Prosecutor's Ofice indicated today (Thursday).

Farid K. and Meryem E.B. are suspected of having supplied Khalid El Bakraoui with false documents used during the preparation of the Paris attacks. On March 22nd, 2016, Khalid El Bakraoui blew himself up in a metro train at Maelbeek station.

No other information can presently be communicated, so as not to prejudice the current investigation.
