Second consecutive day fine particle threshold exceeded in Flanders

Second consecutive day fine particle threshold exceeded in Flanders
Yesterday was the second day in a row that the fine particle threshold was exceeded, indicating poor air quality.

Increased concentrations of fine particles were measured in the atmospheric air yesterday (Thursday) in Flanders. The so-called threshold information of 50 µ/m³ has been exceeded for two consecutive days, the Inter-regional Environment Cell, known as CELINE, indicated.

The average concentration of fine particles seen in Flanders at 10.00 a.m. was 54 µg/m³. At the same time, it was 43 µg/m³ in Brussels and 32 µg/m³ in Wallonia.

The concentrations noted were due to the poor dispersion of air pollution following low to very low wind speeds.

CELINE recommends, in particular within zones exposed to higher pollution concentrations, not to carry out intense or prolonged physical exercise such as, for example, jogging.

The cell adds that, if necessary, you should not hesitate to seek medical advice.
