Eldest living Belgian aged 110

Fernande De Raeve (aged 110) is now the eldest living Belgian. This comes after the death yesterday (Tuesday) of Alicia Van den Berghe-Corveleyn, aged 112. It emerges from statistics from the Belgian department of the Gerontology Research Group.

Alicia Van den Berghe-Corveleyn had been the title-holder since last year and celebrated her birthday on January 8th.

Aged 112 years and 23 days upon her death, she became the third eldest individual in Belgium's history, behind two other women.

These were Joanna Catharina Deroover-Turcksin, who died in 2002 aged 112 years and 186 days and Fanny Félicie Pardon-Godin, who died in 2014 aged 112 years and 103 days.
