Belgium has one of the highest minimum salaries in Europe

Belgium has one of the highest minimum salaries in Europe, according to figures published by Eurostat on Friday. Only Luxemburg, Ireland and the Netherlands have higher minimum salaries within the EU.

22 of the 28 member States have set a legal minimum salary. Denmark, Italy, Cyprus, Austria, Finland and Sweden do not have one.

Countries in the North and West of Europe have the highest minimum salaries. The minimum salary is 1,999 euros a month in Luxemburg, 1,563 euros in Ireland and 1,552 in the Netherlands. It’s 1,532 in Belgium.

The countries that have the lowest minimum salaries are Bulgaria (235 euros), Romania (275 euros) and Latvia and Lithuania (380 euros).
