“Video threat” featuring Antwerp-Central – dozens of people respond to the appeal for witnesses

Dozens of people have responded to an appeal for witnesses after a “video threat” featuring Antwerp-Central was released. The Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the story, which was reported by VTM. The witness statements are being analysed, but have not yet provided any definite leads.

Local police and the Antwerp Prosecutor’s Office appealed for witnesses to come forward on Friday. They are looking for the person or persons behind the video.

Investigators have also released images of witnesses who might be useful to the investigation, such as a woman on a bike and a cyclist wearing black with red shoes.

“Dozens of people have already come forward”, says Ken Witpas from the Antwerp Prosecutor’s Office.   “But we haven’t got any definite leads yet. Numerous people were able to recognise themselves from the descriptions we gave out”.

Anyone that recognises themselves or has any information about the images can contact police on 0800/30300 or opsporingen@police.belgium.
