Suspicious death in a Laeken street: An instruction judge has been chosen to handle it as a murder

A body was found in the street near Place Bockstael in Laeken a little before 7pm on Saturday. An expert said their preliminary findings indicated the death was suspicious. The Prosecutor’s Office revealed this information a little before 11:30pm on Saturday. An instruction judge has been chosen for the murder investigation. The Prosecutor’s Office and Instruction judge examined the scene. An autopsy was requested to determine the cause of death. The victim has not yet been identified and the case is ongoing.

A passer-by found the body in the street in rue Thys-Vanham a little before 7pm. They immediately informed emergency services and the police. The victim was pronounced dead and police set up a safety perimeter. The Prosecutor’s Office has chosen a medical examiner and called in the federal police’s crime scene laboratory.

The Brussels Prosecutor’s Office will make a statement about the case during a press conference at 11am on Monday morning.
