A self-proclaimed "brother" of Mohamed Abrini goes to Saint-Gilles prison

A man who claimed to be Mohamed Abrini's brother and has the same surname, went to Saint-Gilles prison on Thursday evening and threatened to blow up the building. It was quickly established that the man was not equipped with explosives and that he was not a member of Abrini's family but suffered from psychiatric disorders, said the Brussels prosecutor's office on Friday.

The man went to the prison of Saint-Gilles on Thursday evening and said that his name was Mohamed Abrini, the brother of the terrorist arrested in connection with the Brussels and Paris bombings, and that he was going to blow up the building. The prison staff immediately warned the police, who were able to restrain the man without difficulty. The security forces have set up a security perimeter to search around the prison but have not found any trace of explosives.

The man has meanwhile been identified as C. T.-W.K (24) and it has been determined that he suffers from psychiatric disorders. He was transferred to the psychiatric section of a hospital where he will remain under observation for at least 24 hours.
