Charleroi: several flats devastated by fire

A fire took place in a three-storey building accommodating several flats in Charleroi yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
It seems that the occupants succeeded in vacating the building on time.

The firemen from the Hainaut-Est rescue area were able to control the blaze.

The spokesman for the fire service indicated that the fire broke out in a first floor flat within this building, on Rue Turenne, which accommodates several such flats. The blaze quickly spread until the building was completely on fire.

As indicated, all of the occupants succeeded in evacuating the building on time. This was confirmed by the inspection of the rubble by firemen. However, several cats had to be rescued.

For now the origin of the blaze remains undetermined. The Charlerloi local police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
