    More “cyber incidents” in Belgium than ever before

    There have never been so many “cyber incidents” in Belgium. The Computer Emergency Response Team ( received 1,341 descriptions of hackings, website shut downs or Internet offences last year.

    De Tijd is reporting this today (Friday). provides a central database of all reports linked to malware, phishing attacks, DDoS attacks and others.

    Last year, the team identified a total of 1,341 such accounts per month – a record. These come, amongst others, from specialist companies and other countries.

    The number of accounts of “cyber incidents” in Belgium has multiplied by a factor of ten since 2010.

    The federal government is due to present its cyber security programme today (Friday).
