Collision between a vehicle and cyclists in Kasterlee: a third person deceased

A third person died as a result of the Monday afternoon collision in Kasterlee (Antwerp) between a vehicle and a group of cyclists. The 75-year-old woman, whose life expectancy had been uncertain since the accident, died of her injuries in hospital on Wednesday. The investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy is still ongoing, the prosecution said.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon on Turnhoutsebaan, a four-lane carriageway where the speed limit is 90 km/h. The vehicle of a Dutch motorist crashed into a group of 12 cyclists in the region when it was speeding on the road. No traffic light is present there, although one has been requested from the municipality for a long time according to him.

Two people died on Monday and three others were injured in the accident. One of them died on Wednesday.
