The Doel 4 nuclear reactor was shut down Friday, says operator Engie Electrabel. The reactor was manually shut down to perform maintenance work on a water inlet in a non-nuclear section of the infrastructure. The shutdown was not expected, but the reactor is expected to be restarted on Saturday according to forecasts.
Earlier in the week, the Doel 3 reactor had stopped unexpectedly following a problem with a steam valve, also in a non-nuclear section.
