Jaimie Deblieck is the new Mister Gay Belgium

Jaimie Deblieck, 18, was elected Mister Gay Belgium at the Elckerlyc theatre in Antwerp on Saturday evening. He will represent the homosexual and transgender communities for the next 12 months, and wants to fight for them to be accepted in the job market.

The young man from Eastern Flanders is the fifth Mister Gay Belgium. Competitions were held over 5 months to select the 12 finalists. The winner will replace Raf Van Puymbroeck.

The new ambassador for the gay and transgender communities is a horticulture student, who is specialising in landscaping and upkeep this year.

He received his title from the Flemish Education Minister Hilde Crevits (CD&V), who was on the jury.

He will represent Belgium during Mister Gay Europe 2017 and Mister Gay World 2018.
