New stage for the renovation of the facades of the Palais de Justice in Brussels

On Friday, the Council of Ministers opened the way to the designation of a research team for the restoration of the facades of the Palais de Justice in Brussels, Poelaert square, in November. This research is aimed at determining the drafting of specifications for a public contract, with a view to the renovation of the facades of the Palais for the period 2019-2021 and the removal of the scaffolding.

Initially, the research will focus only on zone A, i.e. the facades that overlook the Poelaert square. The commitment appropriations for the restoration of the facades of this zone amount to EUR 24,2 million, "to be provided for in 2019".

On 9 December, the Council of Ministers approved proposals to secure the housing in the vicinity of Campus Poelaert. Regarding the realisation of specific research studies - estimated to cost between 8 and 10 million euros - the Minister of the Budget, Sophie Wilmès (MR), indicated that they should be financed via the regular investment budget of the Régie des Bâtiments.
