A police officer injured in La Louvière after a violent incident

A police officer ended up with a broken arm after a very violent incident on the communal square in La Louvière. The incident took place at around 9pm on Friday. Three individuals, including a minor, have been arrested, the Mons Prosecutor’s Office revealed on Saturday.

Police officers in La Louvière had to call for reinforcements from Mons and Haute Senne due to a group of youths causing trouble on La Louvière’s communal square on Friday evening.

Local police originally intervened to do checks. Tensions mounted, and the group turned against the officers, who then called for reinforcements from neighbouring forces. Around twenty officers eventually got the situation under control. One officer ended up with a fractured radius.

Mons Prosecutor’s Office said a minor was identified thanks to CCTV. He was arrested and taken to a detention centre in Saint-Hubert. Two adults were also arrested. The Kings Prosecutor for Mons, Christian Henry, said they would appear in court very soon as part of an accelerated procedure.
