Body of Quentin de Montpellier found in the Meuse

The body of Quentin de Montpellier was found on Tuesday in the Meuse close to the site of the Méga-défi festivities in Profondeville that the young man had attended on Sunday. “He slipped into the Meuse and may have drowned,” the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Namur reported. “It was apparently an accident.” It was not immediately evident whether alcohol played a role in the unfortunate accident, but further information will be available after the results of forensic examination are known.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has travelled to the area where the body was found at around 5p.m.

The last time de Montpellier was seen alive was Monday morning at about 1 a.m., the mayor of Profondeville, Luc Delire, had stated. On Monday afternoon, de Montpellier’s sister launched an appeal on social media for information to help find the young man. The appeal was widely circulated on social networks. His disappearance was officially announced by the Namur prosecutor’s office in association with the Child Focus organization on Tuesday.
