Netherlands: A 24 year old Belgian in a critical condition after a shooting in Rotterdam

A 24 year old Belgian is fighting for his life in a Dutch hospital after a shooting in Rotterdam. It was possibly because of a conflict over drugs, the Dutch police said on Thursday. The police arrested five suspects. Four youths were arrested near the scene, but released on Thursday. A fifth, a Belgian, is still in custody.

The victim was shot in a southern part of the town at around 6pm. Witnesses alerted police. Emergency services resuscitated the victim at the scene, and he was then transported to hospital. He is still in a critical condition.

A 22 year old friend of the victim, also Belgian, said the two of them were driven to where the incident happened by a group of unknown men. He said it was one of these men that shot the victim.

The Belgian witness was remanded in custody as it was not clear whether or not he was involved in the incident.
