Belgium anxiously awaits opening of third Burger King restaurant
Burger King is aiming for expansion in Belgium's major cities during 2017.

The third Burger King restaurant in Belgium opens its doors on Tuesday at 10.00 a.m. in the Walloon capital Namur. This was indicated by the spokesperson of the group Burger Brands Belgium. Situated opposite the Namur railway station, the building has already been used as a training centre in the chain's “processes” for the 80 new employees included in the Namur restaurant. Moreover, three other Burger King restaurants will open in Belgium by the end of the year.

After Antwerp in June and Charleroi in July, Namur is therefore Belgium’s third Burger King to open in 2017. Being a student city, the Walloon capital was also chosen given its modernity and dynamism. The spokesman highlighted, “It is difficult to quantify the number of individuals expected, but what is certain is that we are expecting high numbers of people, as was the case with the previous restaurant openings.”

By the end of 2017, six restaurants in the chain should have opened in Belgium, including one in mid-September in Auderghem as well as one in Bruges, and a further one in Antwerp before December. It has been announced that a restaurant will also open in Liège at the beginning of 2018.

The Bertrand group, which repurchased Quick in 2015, resold the Belgian and Luxembourg restaurants, so as to focus on the French market. The group QSR Belgium then repurchased the Quick restaurants in both countries, as well as the master franchise for Burger King in Belgium and Luxembourg. Quick Restaurant acquired the name Burger Brands Belgium on that occasion.
