The Federal Planning Bureau has revised Belgian economy growth predictions upwards.
It now expects gross domestic product (GDP) of 1.7% this year, as well as in 2018. In June, the Federal Planning Bureau still anticipated growth of 1.6% for this calendar year and next year.
According to these recent growth predictions, published on Thursday, employment should increase by 104,000 people in Belgium, over the period 2017 to 2018. Inflation, may slow down markedly in 2018, to 1.2%, after growth of 2.1% this year.
Simultaneously, the rate of unemployment (the Eurostat standardised rate) may decline to 7.4% in 2017 and 7.1% next year. At the same time, individuals’ real available incomes may increase by 1.3% this year and 2.2% next year.
