The Baraque Fraiture ski slopes open this weekend

The ski season in Belgium starts this weekend, the first weekend in December. Snow fell on Belgium’s mountain ranges this weekend, which meant the Baraque Fraiture slopes could open. The organisers announced the alpine ski slopes and the cross-country ski slopes were open on Saturday. The toboggan slopes have been open since Friday.

The managers of the ski resort, located in the Luxemburg Province, were hesitant about opening early. However, the drop in temperature overnight meant they were able to open. The 3km and 7km cross-country ski slopes are open, as well as all but the longest alpine ski slope. The cable cars have also been started up.

There were around 200 skiers in the early Saturday afternoon. The resort’s manager Michel Detaille said the slopes would stay open on Sunday due to the favourable weather conditions. Despite the 10cms of snow that fell in the Haute Fagnes, the twenty ski resorts in the East remain closed.
