The new counsel for terror suspect Salah Abdeslam, whose trial was to have begun on Monday, is to request a postponement so as to have time to study the case. Abdeslam is the sole survivor of the commando that perpetrated terror attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015. The Belgian radio and TV channel, RTBF, reported that his new lawyer, Sven Mary, would request a postponement of the trial to January. The attorney declined to comment on Wednesday, but the information was confirmed by a Justice Department source.
For the moment, Abdeslam is in France, where he is being held in jail.
