Tarik Jadaoun, a Belgian jihadi fighter linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group and imprisoned in Iraq, where he risks the death penalty, wants to collaborate with the Belgian secret services, he said in an interview with VRT radio and television. Jadaoun, alias ‘Abou Hamza Al-Belgiki’, was caught during the recapture of Mosul where, according to his own admission, he trained child-soldiers and other ISIS members. He said he had information that could help the Belgian authorities and claimed that he had not really fought for ISIS, which he served as a nurse on the front.
While he said he had not carried out the attacks that occurred in France and Belgium, he apologized for them. “I hope I can go back and apologize to the people who were affected by the attacks in France and Belgium,” he said. “I want to be able to explain to them why certain things have happened.”
The detainee also said he hope to see once again his wife, whom he married in Syria, and his family in Belgium.
