Lottery games accessible using a false identity

It is possible to play the National Lottery games using a false name, an IT expert told VTM Nieuws on Saturday. Those under 18 would therefore be able to bypass the ban on minors taking part.

People that want to play online have to register on a site and give their name and Belgian national registration number. Despite the National Lottery’s extra precautions, an IT expert succeeded in bypassing the system by creating a false identity using a site that generates a fake national registration number.

The National Lottery didn’t want to comment on this information but said it would look into how the expert was able to open a fake account.
