Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg will reinforce their cooperation in the sphere of drug and health products. Health Ministers, Maggie De Block and Lydia Mutsch, signed an agreement on the subject on Wednesday. The agreement focuses in particular on market surveillance during the medicine and health products’ entire life cycle; supervision of studies, tests and clinic investigations; exchange of expertise, resources and information.
This way, information will be shared on JAP audits (Joint Audit Program) in the area of drug manufacturing. “These audits are those which the European Commission has called for to ensure a harmonized and a high degree application of good practices of manufacturing,” said the Federal Drug and Health Products Agency (AFMPS).
“Systematic cooperation with the Belgian Federal Drug and Health Products Agency, which has excellent expertise in this field, will make it possible to guarantee the permanent quality of inspections, which will lead to a reinforcement of the attractiveness of Luxembourg as a drug activity site,” comments Lydia Mutsch, Health Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Inspections will be led by both Belgian and Luxembourg teams on Luxembourg territory, while experienced Belgian inspectors will offer field training to Luxembourg inspectors.
Exchanges and coordinated inspections of trans border actors are also scheduled in the field of medical plans.
