Largest post-war Belgian delegation at Winter Olympic Games
There will be 22 Belgians taking part in nine sports in South Korea.

Belgium will take part in the Winter Olympic Games for the 21st time (out of all of the 23 Winter Olympics held since the event began) in PyeongChang in South Korea, from February 9th to 25th. What is more, it will have the largest post-war Belgian delegation. Only the Games in 1924, 1928 and 1936 hosted more Belgian athletes.

There will be 22 Belgian athletes participating in nine sports in South Korea. In 1924, the first Olympic Games in Chamonix hosted 18 Belgian athletes. There were 25 four years later, in Switzerland, in St-Moritz. The year 1936 set the record for the number of Belgians, with a delegation of 27 athletes in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The holding of the Olympic Games was then interrupted by the Second World War, resuming again in St-Moritz in 1948, with 11 Belgian athletes. Thereafter, Belgium was, on each occasion, represented by less than ten athletes, missing the 1960 games in Squaw Valley in the United States and 1968 in Grenoble.

Four years ago in Russia, Belgium sent seven athletes. The 2022 Games have been awarded to Peking in China.
