Red - new mascot of Red Devils

Red - new mascot of Red Devils
Red, the creation of Arnaud Hermant, is the Red Devils’ mascot from now on.

Red - the name of the new mascot for the Red Devils and all national football teams. Created by Arnaud Hermant, the mascot was officially introduced on Wednesday in Brussels. The mascot will make his first appearance during the friendly match against Saudi Arabia on 27 March, at the King Baudouin Stadium.

Owing to the participation of 1,500 supporters of the Red Devils helping on-site, over a period of several days, Red hatched from a giant egg installed in Place de la Monnaie. Benjamin Goeders, Marketing Manager for the Royal Belgian Football Association, explained, “Red has the task of reuniting all Belgians, and being the link between players and supporters. Cheeky and positive, the mascot will go everywhere with the Devils.”

Red is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Diabolix, the only official mascot in the history of the Royal Belgian Football Association. A historic icon during the 80s and 90s, Diabolix accompanied the Belgians to Mexico in 1986.

Arnaud Hermant, a graphic designer in the city and a fervent supporter of the Devils for many years, was very proud to have been chosen by fans and players alike of the national team. The 36-year-old Brusseler said, “Seeing my design coming into being is fantastic. It is incredible to have been able to take part in this adventure.”

In October 2017 the design, created by Arnaud Hermant, proved a tremendous success with supporters, gaining 46% of the total 20,193 votes. Following a collaboration between the Royal Belgian Football Association, the graphic designer and a British company, the mascot was brought to life on Wednesday.

The ING bank also announced the extension of its collaboration with the Royal Belgian Football Association with the aim of, in particular, supporting the federation’s digital development.
